I plugged in the sodastream FOUNTAIN™ machine, and the Status Light Ring is blinking orange - why is this happening? And what should I do?

A blinking orange light ring indicates that the system needs to perform a purge cycle — draining any residual water from its internal components. This may occur if a drink preparation was interrupted or when the unit is first powered on, due to residual water from production testing.* 

 

In any of these cases, if the light ring is blinking orange, please follow the “Purge” steps below: 

  1. Place an empty glass below the Dispense Nozzle.  
  1. Press the Activation Button once to allow the system to drain the water. This may take a few seconds, until the light ring changes back to white.  
  1. Discard the water.  
  1. If this is a first-time use, please follow the basic RINSE CYCLE as explained in the user manual for first time setup.

* This is normal for beverage appliances (like coffee machines); they are tested with water before they’re shipped.
